Amy Adams is a celebrity with a lot of power and influence, and she proved this weekend that she’s also a celebrity with class. The Oscar-nominated actress boarded a plane from Michigan to California this weekend and made headlines in doing so. ESPN2’s Jemele Hill was also aboard this flight, and he told the media that he witnessed the American Hustle Star speak quietly to a flight attendant before moving back into coach and offering her first class seat to a member of the military.
“When we were waiting to board, I saw her glance the soldier’s way and then she said something to the person she was traveling with. Once we boarded, I saw she was in first class…I think she must have said something to the flight attendant, because before we took off, she had vacated her seat and the flight attendant brought the soldier to her seat,” Hill stated in an email he composed during the flight.
Adams’ father was a member of the military, and the actress chose to show her respect for those who provide her with her freedom each and every day by making a simple decision that earned her the respect of many. The actress took the time to speak to the serviceman before the flight ended. While what was said during their conversation is not known, it’s probably safe to say that they exchanged a few “thank yous” with one another.
Adams didn’t make a big deal of her kindness, but she did make a quick comment when asked by the media about her act, “I didn’t do it for attention for myself. I did it for attention for the troops,” said Adams. Someone in coach ended up with what can only be described as the best seatmate in the history of flights.
