Taraji Penda Henson is an American actress. She studied acting at Howard University and began her Hollywood career as a guest on a number of television shows before breaking out in Baby Boy. She received praise for the prostitute's performance in Hustle & Flow, she received the Screen Actors Association Award for Outstanding Performance for a Nomination in a Film; and as the single mother of a child with a disability in David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, she received Oscar, SAG Award and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress. In 2010, she appeared in the action comedy Date Night and starred in the remake of The Karate Kid. Henson has also had a long and successful career in television, particularly in series such as The Division, Boston Legal and Eli Stone.
