Darren Till Facts
Darren, during his childhood days, would often get involved in fights and squabbles which had led him to start getting trained in Muay Thai kickboxing from the age of 12. He had dropped out of high school 2 years later and had turned professional a year later. At the age of 17, he had switched to MMA, joining Team Kaobon, a Liverpool-based mixed martial arts team.
During his teenage years, he was forced to shuttle between different residences including his gym and relative’s houses after he was kicked out of his house by his mother following an altercation.
In August 2012, he was stabbed twice in the back after getting involved in a scuffle, with several bouncers and patrons, at a party. The knife is said to have missed his main artery by a millimeter and his doctors felt that he was incredibly lucky to have survived. After his recovery, his coach had advised him to move to Brazil to avoid further issues in Liverpool.
There, he had joined Astra Fight Team despite no knowledge of the Portuguese language and with minimal understanding of grappling. He had initially planned a 6-month stay in Brazil but remained there for nearly 4 years, returning to the UK in late 2016.
In April 2019, he had been arrested in Tenerife, Canary Islands, after he had trashed a hotel room that he had been asked to leave. He was also alleged to have stolen a cab while its driver was loading his luggage into the vehicle’s trunk.
